Caroline Lam

Caroline has tremendous teaching experience in primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong. She is skilled in curriculum design and teaching in the inquiry-based approach. Caroline has taught Chinese language and music in international schools in Hong Kong. She has the experience of working with students of diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds as a homeroom teacher and a specialist teacher. She also has the experience of leading a Chinese language team as a subject coordinator. Caroline has led and coordinated students to participate in various kinds of public music competitions and performances in different events. Caroline holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in Music from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and two Master’s degrees in Education from the University of Hong Kong specializing in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language and Comparative and Global Studies in Education and Development. She holds a PGDE in secondary education. Caroline is an International Baccalaureate (IB) certified teacher of the IB Diploma Programme (DP). She holds the IB Certificate in Teaching and Learning (DP Chinese Language Acquisition and DP Teaching Chinese Studies in Language & Literature). Caroline was awarded the Language Proficiency Requirement Certificate of Merit (Putonghua) by the Hong Kong Education Bureau. She holds a first-class certificate in the National Putonghua Proficiency Test. Originally from Hong Kong, Caroline is a native speaker of both Cantonese and Mandarin.

Caroline says, “I have always been passionate about teaching not only music and Chinese language but also in developing a love for relevant cultures. I get immense satisfaction in seeing my students reach their goals and even go beyond what they thought they could accomplish. I aim to combine my experience with my ability to be a compassionate and enthusiastic teacher who will make a positive impact on my students.”
