This intensive EAL support program ensures students have the necessary skills for successful graduation from Stamford and mastery to access top universities worldwide. Students will learn alongside their peers in out mainstream program while receiving intensive EAL support during targeted blocks daily.

Accelerated Language Program (ALP) for Secondary

The Accelerated Language Program is a cutting-edge academic English program that prepares students for the rigorous curriculum at Stamford American School and beyond. Students in Grade 4 to 9, will be able to advance their English through intensive study while accessing a well-rounded international curriculum. Our highly skilled faculty are at the forefront of English language acquisition pedagogy and classroom techniques to rapidly develop students' fundamental English skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. To nurture the whole child, students will integrate into specialist classes and activities with the mainstream cohort. This approach fosters communication, collaboration, and teamwork for a seamless transition to mainstream classes upon completing the ALP.

The goal of the ALP is graduation within one semester. However, those who require additional time to meet the graduation requirements may study in the program for an extra semester. 

As this course is intensive applicants that show dedication to their studies and a strong academic record.

English Ability Assessment

This course uses a standard English proficiency assessment to place students in one of two English levels, Foundation or Intermediate. Students are assessed throughout the semester to ensure they are achieving growth. The end of semester English assessment is a significant factor in determining if the student has met the course's standard for graduation. Throughout the intensive program, students receive daily individualized feedback in the form of classroom projects, homework, quizzes, and tests to accurately monitor our students' progress. The course also utilizes various online tools designed to effectively track improvements in the critical skills of reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

The fees for this course is the same as our standard tuition fees.


The spaces for this program are very limited. The holder of a debenture obtains priority in admissions, subject to Stamford's eligibility requirements. Corporate Debentures (Platinum, Standard Plus and Standard) confer the highest priority in admissions, followed by Individual Debentures.

Debenture holders also receive priority in admissions if they seek to transfer to another school in the Cognita family of schools in Asia during the life of the debenture.
