Mr. Malcolm Kay

Mr. Malcolm Kay is an experienced leader in American and international education, leading schools that offer College Board programs, including the Advanced Placement examination and all International Baccalaureate (IB) programs. Malcolm started his international career at the International School of Geneva, a founding IB school, and has contributed to and been involved in the delivery of IB programs for more than 35 years.

As the founding Superintendent of our sister school, Stamford American International School in Singapore, Malcolm oversaw the growth of the school to a prestigious IB World authorized school with more than 3,000 students from over 65 countries. He also oversaw the first graduating class at the school, sending them to 1st tier universities in the U.S. and around the world, including Jen Kit Ker, one of only 106 international students worldwide to receive an early acceptance from Northwestern University.

As Superintendent of ACS International Schools in London for 15 years, Malcolm oversaw the growth of the school, based on American and international K-12 education, to a prestigious three school system of more than 2,600 students, representing more than 60 nationalities, and sending graduates to highly reputable universities in the USA and around the world. Malcolm also led the development of a new school, ACS Egham International School from site acquisition to fully accredited New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and International Baccalaureate status.

As an experienced accreditation officer of international schools for NEASC and an accomplished public speaker and writer, Malcolm has established world-wide community service projects including the ACS International Schools Foundation Peace Prize and the ORBIS flying eye hospital internship program.

In addition to Malcolm's wealth of educational experience, he is a Master’s graduate of Bath University, well known for its expertise in the international education arena, a Bachelor’s graduate of Nottingham University and he also studied at Harvard’s Graduate School of Education. Malcolm is married to Nicky and together they have two grown sons. Both boys graduated from high school as IB Diploma Program students; Jonathan is a university graduate in Project Management and Construction and Tristan is a Master's graduate in Digital Forensics.

Step 1

Prospective students need to submit an online application form and all required forms. A non-refundable Application Fee must be paid in order to be considered for admissions. To submit an application click here. Each application is reviewed individually and independently.

STEP 2

Once the required forms and documents are complete have been submitted and the Application Fee has been received, the Admissions Team and the appropriate school administration will review the application file. A time will be scheduled to meet your child to conduct an assessment (view our assessment process here).

For overseas applicants: If a face-to-face assessment is not possible, we may arrange an online assessment via Skype. Overseas applications wil be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

STEP 3

The application will be reviewed by Stamford's Review Committee. Families will then be notified by email of the outcome within 2 weeks of the assessment. When a place is offered, the Deposit must be paid within seven (7) calendar days of receipt of the acceptance letter. If the Deposit is not received within seven (7) calendar days, priority will be given to other applicants. Before students start they must also complete a Medical Form and have a valid Hong Kong visa to be eligible for a place at Stamford American School. A visitor visa does not entitle the holder to attend any school in Hong Kong.
