Shawn Vessey

Shawn has over a decade of teaching experience having worked at different schools in Hong Kong. He believes that school should be fun from day one because a happy student is a motivated and engaged learner. Originally from Prince Edward Island, Canada, Shawn holds a Bachelor of Arts, a PGDE, and a Master of Education. Shawn has classroom teaching experience in both Lower and Upper Primary and enjoys coaching touch rugby. Shawn brings a wealth of experience with students of various international backgrounds and language abilities to bring out the best in all of his students in a personalized inquiry-based learning approach.

Shawn says, “I believe that schools are a place for learning of subject matter and oneself among others. A classroom is a place where students learn about their learning process, strengths and weaknesses, attitudes, and perspectives; this is confirmed by taking risks, sharing and reflecting on their ideas and understandings with each other. As a passionate teacher of inquiry-based learning, I believe that I am a manager of learning who guides each individual toward making connections between known and new concepts across subject matter.”
