Marco Longmore

Mr. Marco Longmore joined Stamford as the Head of School in January 2023. He brings over 30 years of international teaching and leadership experience, including three headships across the UK, Dubai, and Guangzhou, China, where he established and led some of the most prestigious schools within the UK and international independent education.

Marco has served at six leading Headmasters and Headmistresses Conference (HMC) Schools in three regions (UK, Middle East, and Asia). Before joining Stamford Hong Kong, Marco served as the Founding Head of College at Fettes College Guangzhou and has led the partnership between Fettes College, a leading UK independent school, and Bright Scholar Education Group, China’s largest K-12 school private schooling provider, in their first joint venture opening. Prior to that, he oversaw the development of Brighton College Dubai in the United Arab Emirates as the school’s Founding Headmaster, establishing the fourth branch of Brighton College globally from the pre-operation to full opening. Marco’s previous career in the United Kingdom includes a nine-year headship at the Edinburgh Academy as the Rector (Headmaster), during which the Academy grew to become one of Scotland’s most successful co-educational schools.

“Confidence without arrogance” underpins Marco’s ambition for all his students. As a firm believer in holistic education, he values the intricate balance of character development, the success of each student, and their academic progress, as the core focus of any school striving to prepare students for life. Marco regularly speaks on school projects and broader educational issues at educational conferences in the Middle East and China on holistic education, premium performance in schools, resilience in schools, and modern school design.

Born in Scotland with a strong family connection to Italy, Marco received the Scottish Qualification for Headship (P.G. Diploma in Educational Management and Leadership) from the University of Edinburgh and the Postgraduate Certificate in Management in Education from the Moray House College of Education, Edinburgh. He completed his Master of Arts (Honours) in History from the University of Edinburgh.
