Jamie Barnfather

Jamie joins Stamford with experience teaching both IGCSE and IB physical education curricula and is currently studying for a Master of International Education. In addition to his expertise in physical education, Jamie has also taught in a classroom setting, teaching English as a foreign language and the PYP curriculum in the primary years. Before teaching, Jamie was a sports scientist and was a senior strength and conditioning coach in the UK and Hong Kong, coaching elite-level youth and professional athletes from various sports.

Jamie says, “Sport can be a gateway and release important for physical and mental health. It grants reflection opportunities in celebrating wins, overcoming challenges, and accepting defeat on your own and within teams. I feel strongly passionate about both sides of the athletic spectrum, from encouraging participation for beginners to perfecting and improving the performance of those who play competitively. My biggest joy is when I see students play with a smile on their faces, and it is my goal to make physical education even more enjoyable.”
