Camilla Grobbelaar

Camilla moved to Hong Kong in 2018 after working at Knysna, South Africa, where she worked closely with students with cerebral palsy and found her passion in working with students of different abilities to bring out their unique skills. Since then, Camilla has worked as a kindergarten teacher at an international school in Hong Kong for two years before moving into a primary school setting as a Grade 3 teacher. In her free time, she enjoys hiking the trails in Hong Kong, exploring the world, and all things related to art.

Camila says, “I knew from a very young age I wanted to be a teacher; I remember the impact the teachers throughout my school career left on me, and I wanted to create that same feeling. I believe that all students are individuals; they all have their own needs and work with their capabilities. I feel there is more to teaching than just an academic approach, that being a teacher, you are there to set the foundation for the rest of their lives. As a teacher, you are responsible for giving children the right tools to cope with everyday situations. Each child learns in their unique way, and as a teacher, you must be adaptable, compassionate, patient, and loving.”
