Shaila joins Stamford with 17 years of experience in international education with a focus on EAL leadership. She spent 15 years teaching English as a second language at The British School of Guangzhou while overseeing the EAL department. She has worked in every stage of education from early years to secondary and gained a deep understanding of the nuances of language acquisition at each level. In addition to her experience in the classroom, she focused on systemic functional linguistics during her PGCE to foster learners that communicate beyond interpersonal skills and develop academic language mastery through the right strategies at an early age. As a certified teacher trainer, Shaila has devoted a considerable part of her teaching career to providing staff professional development, and her expertise will benefit Stamford students and staff alike.
